The long silence

“To dream anything that you want to dream, that is the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do, that is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself, to test your limits, that is the courage to succeed.”   ~ Bernard Edmonds ~   This pretty much sums up my last three months of silence…I’ve been dreaming, doing and testing my limits. I’ve expanded my writing business considerably, I’ve been working for BMW at the International Motorcycle Shows, I’ve taken on working with Renedian Adventures (Motorcycle Safaris in Africa) helping them promote their tours in Southern Africa and I’m getting fit and confronting some long-standing habits that are due for a shakeup. I’ve also been trying to decide what to do with this blog. Originally it was meant to communicate my whereabouts on...

And of course they are Edward’s because I am working on deadline this week. (Thanks for the picture share EW!) We found some cozy camp sites:   We also got caught up on our sleep. With nighttime temps sometimes below freezing, the warmest place was in the sleeping bag. Please follow and like...

Back in Southern California

Posted by on Nov 14, 2014 in California, USA | 2 comments

I’m back in Southern California and everything is upside down, starting with my sleep schedule. I did okay yesterday surprising Edward and getting up at 4:30 am with him. Then I fell asleep on him at 6 pm. Now I’m up at 2 am (well, it would be noon in Namibia!)  It’s not really a problem since I have lots to attend to having been out of the country for 4 months, but still…I wouldn’t have minded sleeping until 4:30 again. Maybe I’ll bother the cat. Wait, smart cat; she’s busy sleeping too…   Please follow and like...

Summer Solstice at the Griffith Observatory

Last Saturday was the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. Edward and I decided to make a day of it–little did we know that half of Los Angeles had the same idea… So we wandered around a little bit, took a hike up the mountain looking for the best view of the “HOLLYWOOD” sign, and then took in the exhibits. We brought along picnic fixin’s and stopped in a park to dine.   Well, I went back to the truck for something, and when I turned around we had a visitor. Needless to say, I was slightly alarmed… In the end it turned out to be an incredible experience. Since the coyote seemed at ease with humans, I kicked a bone that was on the lawn in his direction and he went over to investigate. I went back...

Best Christmas Ever! (2013)

Posted by on Dec 26, 2013 in California, USA | 2 comments

This year we went completely non-commercial. No wrapping, no bows, not even presents! Just bare feet and beautiful weather. (Sure it feels a little weird to have my very first non-snowy Christmas ever, but you know what? I can already tell you that snow is way overrated!) You might have guessed that I’m not in Idaho, and you’d be correct.  Edward and I moved to the Los Angeles area last week. He’s got an exciting new job that’s top secret until 02 January. And for me there’s no looking back (to Idaho). As a wonderful friend of mine pointed out “The move sounds like a typical chapter in your life!! Everything happening all of a sudden at once.” And that about sums it up! Despite the lack of snow, I did get into the holiday spirit and decorated my pink Christmas...
